Studio Report: Infocalypse

The EP consists of songs written during the Devoid of Life sessions, so much of the studio stuff is identical. The songs were composed in later summer 2009, except for Wire Synapse that formed later on in December 2009. Originally the plan was to release this as a precursor to the album Devoid of Life, but the time difference turned out to be quite extensive, with this one being released a whole 1,5 years before Devoid of Life, in December 2010. The recording of the guitars and bass was done during the Devoid of Life recording sessions in summer 2010, but as this album predates Ville joining the band, the drums use Superior Drummer 2.0 as did the previous album Posthumanism. A bit later on, in December 2010, it was time to record the vocals and that happened in Ville's (who had joined the band at this point) rehearsal space in Kemi, Finland. I took my recording rig down there and spent a Friday evening spewing at the microphone, until all the vocals for the EP were ready.
